This wooden love heart decoration is handcrafted in County Galway, & engraved with the Gaelic word for Love: ‘Grá’. Made a from Native Irish Hawthorn tree that lived since c. 1930’s, it also features a red ribbon & beautiful infinity feather symbol.
Also known as the Fairy tree, Hawthorn was sacred to our ancient Celtic ancestors, & holds a special place in Irish folklore. Crafted with love by Cian Magill, each handmade wooden heart is a one-of-a-kind. Engraved in the charming medieval-Irish ‘Seanchló’ font. Size: 4″ x 3.5″ x 0.6″. Free Worldwide Delivery.

These came about after a customer contacted me looking for a unique anniversary gift for their loved-one. They had the idea of a little wooden love heart decoration, and left it up to me for the design. I played around with a few options and decided on the piece shown above. I found a beautiful infinity feather symbol, and added some charming Gaelic typeface. Along with a vibrant red ribbon, I felt all of this was perfect for its symbology.
To me, these wooden hearts signify everlasting love – something that brings humanity together, and is the bright love of our hearts, or ‘Grá Geal mo Chroí’.
